Hi all,

I'm not sure what traction this might get, but one of the things I
think might drive adoption is a GUI to configure custom service
discovery and data collection.

For example:

Browsing the available mib tree on a device and selecting oids of
interest for collection, or browsing an mbean server for a jvm and
selecting mbean attributes for collection.

I see a lot of oppertunities to engage usage of the product if users
don't have to edit XML files. I appreciate that many users can, but in
my experience such a requirement causes many other potential users to
shy away.

Just a thought I'm throwing out there for feedback.

I doubt I'll be able to attend devjam myself, but I will be devoting
time to development as I can over the next 18 months (day job
permitting).

If this idea doesn't get traction I may focus on the rrd jrdatasouce
which, IMHO would be a big win for onms reporting.

Cheers,

Steve
