Hello all,
I am Aadish Kotwal, a pre-final year BE student of Computer Engineering from
India. I am very keen on taking part in GSoC 2011 while developing for
OpenNMS and will be applying for projects here. I am new to this list and to
this organization. I wish to introduce myself here, get familiar with the
community and contribute here as a developer.
I have a good amount experience with many of the technologies OpenNMS uses
for development purpose like Java, Maven, Git, Servlets, JSP, HTML, CSS,
Javascript/JQuery, AJAX, JUnit and Mockito. I am well versed with Java and
have recently given my OCJP exam and got a great result. I am good with UI
interfacing and web 2.0 tools.
I am primarily interested in the the following project ideas:
*1. **Create a maven archetype for creating GWT based XML configuration
management and implement three of them.*
I have done much development using maven and have also few created
archetypes. The archetypes were developed for replicating existing modules
and were deployed remotely. I have also done development using Atlassian
Plugin SDK and have a good deal of knowledge in this domain. I feel I can do
a good job here. I would be glad if some one could elaborate on the existing
structure with some pointers and what are the deliverables of this project
so that I can have a better understanding and so that I can create a good
project plan.
*2. Help Us Clean Up the Web UI*
I have experience in standard web technologies, web 2.0 tools, JSP,
Servlets, Spring Webflow and Freemarker templates. I wish to apply for this
project also. I have got a fair amount of understanding from the description
at the idea page, but could use some more pointers to get a better
understanding of the current implementation of UI.
Also, I wanted to know if there are some tasks related to the above ideas
which I could work on prior to timeline so as to get a better understanding
of the ideas and code base. If you could please give me some information on
the above and guide me, it will be very helpful. Thanks in advance.
