Linkd has had long-standing issues and there have been some plans to a) clean up Linkd's code, and b) rewrite Linkd in a provisiond manner. One of the hardest problems with the current Linkd code is there is little to no unit testing for it. The best way to get unit tests put together is to get real-world snmpwalks that we can use. So please, if you have SNMP-capable hardware which can expose link information (be it ARP tables, cisco whatever, etc.), send us your snmpwalks! We'll use them to make unit tests and clean up the remaining issues in Linkd.
