General tip: assuming you're targeting OpenNMS 1.10, you'll want GWT
version 2.3.

Specific tip: there's a GWT Maven archetype in our code base that
should take care of most of the heavy lifting involved in creating a
new GWT application.  It doesn't get built by default because it lives
under the "opennms-tools" top-level directory.  To get the archetype
into your local Maven repo, first check out and build (./compile.pl)
OpenNMS.  Then after that succeeds you can build the archetype:

cd opennms-tools/opennms-gwt-archetype
../../compile.pl

This is as far as I've personally gotten owing to the tendency of my
workday to be rather interrupt-driven.  There's more on the wiki here
