we got some help from Ron Roskens improving JRobin and the support for alpha channels [1]. I've committed the patch to JRobin master in version 1.15.5-SNAPSHOT and referenced the current master to use the JRobin 1.5.15-SNAPSHOT instead of 1.5.14. Ron was also able to provide patch to avoid a legend in graphs with no comment [2]. We have one minor issue left [3] which is the representation of the legend box with transparency.
