Matt, I was thinking on this and since you are going down this path of "figure 
out this Jersey business", should take this opportunity to consider moving from 
Jersey to Spring Data ReST implementation?

I like this for so many other reasons since they are also making JPA 
implementations for "big data" and have been looking for the opportunity to
