Hi Aswartha,
first of all, mib2opennms has been replaced by mib2events.
This is a separate package which can be downloaded from the OpenNMS
repository.
Run mib2events without any arguments for a short usage description.
You use this to create a file containing the trap definitions. The file
should be saved in the $OPENNMS_HOME/etc/events folder.
Don't forget to update the $OPENNMS_HOME/etc/eventconf.xml file to include
this file.
See configuration file index page (
http://www.opennms.org/wiki/Configuration_File_Index) for instructions on
how to reload the Eventd configuration,
Once you have created the event definitions, you can then define related
alarms/notifications as necessary.
Traps received by the OpenNMS server are converted into Events by the Trapd
daemon (which should be running by default).
Traps that do not match defined events will be reported as
EnterpriseDefault traps (the actual UEI is
uei.opennms.org/generic/traps/EnterpriseDefault).
You do not need to use the event translator unless you need to extract bits
of the information in the trap message to use as separate parameters in a
new event.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Michael.
