I don't think it is obvious at all which should be used and why.   I'm
currently using rrd w/storebygroup based on seeing someone say it had
the best performance, but I don't know if that is anecdotal or
consistent across versions - or if you lose anything besides
CPU-portability for the jrb files with rrd.

Are there any comparison tests available?   The write performance is
the most likely bottleneck for the whole system, so I would think this
would be relatively important.
