I think version 1.2 can be used with out any problem.

Yes, I saw that but wanted to be 100% clear as to what was meant. I did
not want to abandon it over a mis-interpretation.
IMO, any protocol that is proprietary is doomed to failure. History
shows another protocol will come along which is public, and will shadow
the proprietary protocol in a short period of time.
I will look at this more in my "spare" time (I wish) and see if there
are any caveats to make OBEX worthwhile. But if the protocol cannot be
made public, I am not sure I want anything to do with it.
I guess I should have known is was on a dead end path if it came from
"infrared" associations. I think IrDA will fade slowly to a very small
use. Who wants "line of sight" devices anymore when we have Bluetooth,
WiFi, etc., that are omni directional.
