following up on an earlier question of mine, i notice a fair bit of
stuff marked "DEPRECATED" in the current code base. what's the openocd
policy of timelines for removing stuff like that? i'm a big fan of, if
it's not necessary and people know it's discouraged code, at some
point, one has to bite the bullet and throw stuff away. and it just
means less code for me to read. :-)

  so ... thoughts?
