cvs daemon question

there is a line in the rc.cvs file:

cvs_daemon_listen="127.0.0.1:2401"

what should this line be to allow for external connections.  I tried just using the port number, and I tried netmask-style 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.1.255 and those didn't work.  Is there some documentation on the options in this file?
