That reminds me of the time I had to on a rather ancient Sequent DYNIX/PTX
box.  The native C compiler didn't support ANSI C prototypes so none of my
software would build.  Gcc wouldn't build until I dug into the sources to
hack it into submission.

At least the customer was willing to pay to get things working.
