Between February 2005 and March 2006 we have successfully restructured
and consolidated OpenPKG into three distinct organizational units:

  openpkg.ORG openpkg.COM openpkg.NET
OpenPKG Project OpenPKG Corporation OpenPKG Foundation
OpenPKG OpenPKG GmbH OpenPKG Foundation e.V.
Rules & Results Services & Support Equipment & Evangelism

While the OpenPKG Project remains the organizational head and central
interface of OpenPKG and continues to provide the project rules and
product results, the OpenPKG Corporation provides commercial services
and support to OpenPKG business customers and the OpenPKG Foundation
provides both the computing and manpower resources and the social
network and evangelism of OpenPKG.

Each organizational unit now stays under a fully separate administration
domain and is located on its own independent computing environment.
Nevertheless, as intentionally all three strongly belong together, their
Web sites were now finally cleaned up, consolidated and migrating onto a
new shared uniform visual representation. They even share the contents
of their top-level pages now ;-)

You can find OpenPKG now under the URLs:

  http://www.openpkg.org/
  http://www.openpkg.com/
  http://www.openpkg.net/

The three new websites were mostly re-created from scratch and now
hopefully provide a much better structured information pool for OpenPKG.
A few highlights are:

- On the right hand upper side of each top-level page the active messages
of the new OpenPKG News Ticker are displayed in a rotated way. The
News Ticker is a global information and its full content can be found
under http://www.openpkg.org/news/. We'll use this global News Ticker
from now on to announce OpenPKG related news messages at a central
  place.

- At the bottom of each page there is mini Search form and link to the
larger search form under http://meta.openpkg.org/global-search.php. With
this you can search all three websites at once. The database is updated
once per day. This way you should be able to more quickly find your
  information.

- Also at the bottom of each page there is a link to the global Sitemap
  under http://meta.openpkg.org/global-sitemap.php. Use this to
have an all-at-once overview of the three websites.

- Under http://www.openpkg.org/news/feeds.php you now find 4 distinct
News Feeds which provide information about CVS Repository
transactions, FTP Download Service file changes, published Security
Advisories and the News Ticker. The format is Atom/1.0 and RSS/1.0 and
this way allow you to subscribe to those news feed channels with your
  favorite content syndication application.

- Under http://www.openpkg.org/download/ you find a page for easy
accessing the FTP Download Service. Just enter you registered Email
address and this way both store it in a cookie and open the restricted
FTP download areas. After this you can just click onto the areas in
the matrix and this way directly access the area without having to
fiddle around with the FTP URLs and their escaping.

- Under http://www.openpkg.org/download/registration/ you can now find
a small overview of the OpenPKG Registry procedure for those of you
who are still not registered as an OpenPKG Fellow. The overview
hopefully reduces the resistance at least to some extend.

- Under http://www.openpkg.org/documentation/faq/ the F.A.Q. is online
again. This time DHTML based and this way hopefully easier to read.
Just click on your question and the answer opens or closes. Or click
"ALL" at the top to open all answers for reading everything at once.

- Under http://www.openpkg.org/security/advisories/ you now find
the Security Advisories. We tried to assemble them in a compact
overview page to give you easy and quick access to each advisory.

If you see any remaining design, content or structuring problems,
please do not hesitate and just drop me a note...

Yours,
                                       Ralf S. Engelschall
