Windows NT4, SP6. A puzzling problem. I have set up two 'websites', one on
the default port 80, the other on port 180. All works just as expected when
Apache is launched from the console, including SSL, and access control on
the port 180 site. However, if Apache is installed and started as a Windows
service, only the site on port 80 can be accessed. Attempts to access the
port 180 site result in a 403. If I disable the access control on the 180
site I get a 404 instead. Stop the service, launch Apache from the console
and all works as expected, once again. I'm using the default config file,
/apache/Conf/httpd.conf. A -t test on both the service and the console
reports 'Syntax OK'. Any ideas?
