I think I may have found the solution to this mysterious watsoning...
It seems both Apache (or at least mod_ssl) and OpenSSL need to be built with
-DSSL_CONSERVATIVE
this prevents the definition and use of ssl::io::suck which is what was
faulting
on it's caul to ap_ctx_get...
Something else to note (or if someone can confirm) with SSL debug I
concistently get
errors stating "expected 5 bytes"...
