Hi, in preparation for the linuxtag we are looking for detailed card information and pictures.
for example: what exactly is that card that opensc supports? is it common? does everyone have one in your country or only a few people? is it one of several popluar alternative or the only card available? maybe you also know how many cards are in circulation? what can you do with that card? is opensc the de facto software, or is there some other software to use it (win/linux/mac os X)? what is the typical use case for that card? if you have one, can you scan it and send me a picture? high resolution would be nice, so we can put it on a poster. if you want your name etc. blured, please do so (or let me know so I can find out how to do that and give it a try). examples: - opensc supports the estonian id card. as far as I know every adult citizen has one in estonia (or close to all of them). it is the national id card, no alternative. about 900 000 cards in circulation. the card can be used for any sort of authentication, for example with state / police / ..., with online services by the state, but also banks use it for online banking. estonians can even vote with the cards and a web browser. opensc is the de facto software for linux and mac os X and for (windows+firefox), but there is also a special software for (windows+exploror, a CSP). (that is plain opensc, no changed version or anything. but pre-compiled packages are usualy from martin paljaks website as far as I know. but they contain no special changes.) no idea what people do with the card. guess accessing web sites with authentication is the typical use. but I have not much clue about all the other cards. please help me getting a clue and getting some facts I can use in marketting opensc as well as presenting the situation of smart cards in europe. I could need this information for both - national id cards etc. and also for commercial smart cards / blank cards. also if you have a card, and you don't mind, please scan it and send us a picture, so we can create posters with lots of cards on it. (we don't want to simply take pictures of some vendors website as that could get us into copyright trouble over the photos etc.) thanks for your help.
