I could not find a reference to /usr/lib/pkcs11/ in my mails. But I

Because it would break backward compatibility.

Maybe we can deprecate the use of /usr/lib/opensc-pkcs11.so in favor
of /usr/lib/pkcs11/opensc-pkcs11.so. But we should not break working
application without prior warning.

The first step is to make /usr/lib/pkcs11/opensc-pkcs11.so usable.
