To be honest, I have no idea.  I tested locally on Leopard:

m1b0dfa48:~ cerebus$ ssh -v
OpenSSH_4.7p1, OpenSSL 0.9.7l 28 Sep 2006

So whatever that format is, it worked for me.  :)

patch)?

Docs on conversion to/from a openssh usable format may be worthwhile. Pointing to non-official ssh-keygen patches may be of less use.
