hmm. yes, but lets have one more 0.11 release first, because
of the openssl 0.9.7 breakage.

and I wonder: shouldn't I apply those cleanup patches as soon
as possible? I don't want good work to rot, because of delays
to get it applied.

if I branch trunk to 0.11-maint tomorrow, can we directly
merge your 0.12 changes and apply the pending cleanup
patches on top?

or is 0.11 and your 0.12 branch so different, that we will
need to rework those patches?
