Looking at the 2.0 specification it has a brief description of the changes between 1.1 and 2.0 (and 1.0, which seems to be the one supported by OpenSC) and it seems like an upgrade to the existing driver could do. I have a 1.0 card but I've not used it because I managed to lock it up. A friend of mine lately complained that OpenSC did not work for him either.. There have been no real developments on the driver for years and not many posts on the mailing list either...
