The Omnikey CardMan 3121 reader is supported by my CCID driver. See http://pcsclite.alioth.debian.org/ccid/supported.html#0x076B0x3021 The vmware virtual reader is also supported by my CCID driver. But it should not create problems if you install it and should be used by pcscd instead of my libccid driver. I am happy your problem is now fixed by a correct configuration of OpenSC.
