Hi,
actually the volume node relies on special mechanisms to determine
color and opacity, thus just assigning an ordinary material wouldn't work.
The color of the volume is controlled on a per-voxel basis by a so-called
transfer function which is implemented as DVRLookupTable attachment. In
order to make this effective you need to assign an appropriate shader to
the volume, e.g. the DVRSimpleLUTShader. See the example in
"testSimpleLUTShaderRender.cpp" to see how this is done.
In order to change the overall opacity of the volume you can use the
"BaseAlpha" field of DVRVolume. The only way to change the color of the
volume currently are transfer functions.
