That's exactly what I was trying to express. I was never too happy
with the createGradientImage method in DVRIsoShader since it is more
general and might be used by other volume shaders as well. I just 
didn't have an appropriate place to put it since Image seemed too
general. Maybe we should put this utility class into the VolRen branch
since it is rather related to that --- or would you expect someone to
apply those methods to a 2D image :-)
