Hello again,
the flex version i used was 2.5.31 (which is newer than 2.5.4, but
obviously not backwards-compatible). i installed 2.5.4 and the flex
errors vanish.
there are still byte vector errors occuring:

line 89: Error: StoredFieldType is not defined.

...
where does the #ifndef belong?
also, i get errors (the first which appear) which don't seem to be
related to byte vectors:
