that's what i'm wondering about. i did not enable text, my configure
call looks like this:
./configure \
--prefix=/usr/local \
--enable-tif \
--enable-jpg \
--enable-png \
--enable-glut \
--enable-qt \
--with-qt=/usr/qt/3
