Especially what happens during loading of that plugin, i.e. what static initializers do run ? Hm, one more thing comes to mind: Do you have a debugging version of freeglut, can you check where in glutMainLoopEvent it is stuck, or provide a backtrace ? Maybe that can give a clue ?
