Given that addRefP is a template wrapper around any type they're functionally
equivalent. I'm not quite sure what the motivation for addRef() was. Gerrit, in
which case does addRefP not work?
Personally I'd prefer addRef as a cleaner syntax, but I need to understant the
reasoning behind both first.
