I don't think the VRML loader actually does anything with the audio. it
might keep the Nodes in the tree, but it will not play sounds.
I think you're referring to Daniel Walz's audio implementation. Lacking
any audio experience I never get around to putting it into the
repository. Daniel finished his Master's in 04, and I don't think
anybody has worked on the code since then. I don't think he's on the
list any more, and I'm not sure where to find him.
I do have his code and I don't think he would mind me giving it to
somebody who wants to take care of it, if there is interest.
