Grek Blender 2.49b is an old version 2.57 should be available in Ubuntu's
report, since Your not seeing it you can download it from blender.org to
your home folder then point openshot to it's location. It doesn't need to be
installed from the report, just as long as you have it on your pc

  in new animated title, says it needs version 2.5 of Blender, and the current 
version of Blender is 2.4b. I installed the latest version I have and I always
