Hi,

the current Freeswitch module is deprecated. There was interest in
rewriting it for 0.7; if you are interested, please contact me, as
the other interested party has dropped the matter.

In 0.7, Freeswitch should not be handled by the region alone, but
rather should be a service, for which a skeleton already exists and
leave only call control to the regions.

I understand the deprecation but I trust that we will not remove this module until a replacement exists. The current module appears to work (at least to some extent) and people are actively using it.

This deprecation needs to be recorded somewhere, possibly OpenSim.ini.example. This is the first that I've heard of it and I can't locate a written record.

Sone work has been done but it needs an interested developer or two
to finish it.

In Opensim.ini there is a commented out [FreeSwitchVoice] section parameter

       opensim_well_known_http_address

Our testing seems to indicate this might not be use at all, or is not
handled as indicated in the accompanying comment to verify a client.

Does someone know about this enough to know if its an obsolete
parameter? or if it is live if it does what it suggested in
opensim.ini? If it is live, it is very odd that no port is specified
if its meant to indicate a HTTP port, as that cannot be sensibly
defaulted in this context I would think anyway.

It would be good to clear up these things as FreeSwitch configuration
and testing has been something that has thrown a lot of folks, and it
took us some time to get our setup working even with very helpful
advice from others along the way.
