Hi, I want to bring up again the problem of avatars sinking into the terrain. This problem has been discussed since at least 2008. Here are some previous bug reports:
http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=2905 (starts as another problem, but morphs into the terrain problem) http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=2717 http://opensimulator.org/mantis/view.php?id=4184 I fiddled with various ODE settings as suggested in these bug reports, but there wasn't much improvement. Increasing av_capsule_radius helps a little, but then avatars have other problems (e.g., can't walk through doorways) so it's not a good solution. Increasing av_capsule_standup_tensor helps reduce the frequency of having the avatar's legs fold, but the avatar still sinks into the terrain; just with straight legs. I also switched to Bullet physics as a sanity check, and the problem disappeared, but Bullet isn't yet ready to replace ODE. Is there any update about this problem? Any known workarounds? I can always get out of the terrain simply by walking, but preferably this problem won't happen in the first place.
