Jay, It depends on whether you have a local daemon. If you haven't, slptool will multicast it's request to the slp multicast group, which all SLP daemons are listening on. If you have a local daemon, then slptool uses a back door to talk to the local daemon and ask it for it's list of known daemons. It then unicasts each daemon with the query. It's marginally quicker this way as the initial multicast is bypassed. Just how much quicker depends on your timeout settings in slp.conf.
