Sorry that I missed your post, but have you made sure that you're actually in the sandbox? OpenSocial will be undefined if you're not in the sandbox. Note that going to http://www.google.com/sandbox when you're already in the sandbox will actually make you *leave* the sandbox, which has tripped me up a couple times in the past.
