Write once use everywhere ---------------------------------- I understand that the OpenSocial API is to write your app once for one social networking site & then be able to reuse it on all the other Social networking sites that also support the SPI of OpenSocial API.
For eg., if you write a app for Orkut using the OpenSocial APIs that lets you calculate the time in your friend's time zone (or friend's friend) based on the location provided in your friend's profile ... you would also be able to port this app to, say for eg., LinkedIn. BTW, the feature is actually currently not available in Orkut, so a genuine idea from me :) ... you are welcome to develop it & state this thread as the inspiration ;) Integrate network from everywhere -------------------------------------------- But what I would really like to know is if theres actually any data flow across the social networking sites. Taking the above example and adding on to it, now consider this network, I have a friend in my Orkut network. That friend also has a LinkedIn account and has a friend there who is not on Orkut. Would it be possible to find out the local time of that person while I am within Orkut? This would mean that I would need to see the network of my friend in the other social networking sites. Provided all these sites support the SPI, is it possible? -- Prem http://scorpfromhell.blogspot.com http://shaloos.in --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "OpenSocial Container Developers" group.
