Quite true, these profile attributes provide means of communicating
with profile owners. However they should not be used to infer identity
relationships between multiple profiles, as they may be owned by
different individuals despite the efforts of one of them to create the
impression that they are not. For example, I can publish your name,
email address or Skype ID in my profile, which would also have an
email address I control as the primary one. Whoever infers that my
profile must also belong to you can be trapped into emailing me when
they think they are talking to you.

My only point here is that we need to distinguish between user ID,
which the container provides with its own guarantees of uniqueness,
and identity attributes published by users themselves. The latter
really should not be used for identity purposes. Unless both
identities explicitly declare a shared relationship, it is not to be
assumed (as you seem to imply based on attribute value match).

Completely agree that we need a standard vocabulary and syntax for a
lot of these identity attributes/claims. A bunch of those already
exist, btw, so it would potentially benefit OpenSocial to reuse the
already defined vocabularies and syntax (e.g., SAML, OpenID).
