Hi All,
I'm a new-bee in this technology. With the help of Google's OpenSocial API
Documentation I came to know that we can build social application using
Javascript API / RESTful data API. I also come to know about the Gadgets and
its new (gadget.* API) and old (legacy gadgets API) version. But I'm totally
confused in all these. Below is my questions and I request any body if they
could solve out my problems:
1) I want to create one Application which should run on both, orkut and
facebook. As they have their own rules and guidelines to create application,
how should I make my application robust in such situation.
2) I have developed my own website in ASP which I want to be presented as an
application on these social platforms. For this, can I create a gadget which
will pull down my website (hosted on my server) on orkut/facebook.
3) I know about the URL feature for the Content-Type and this is doing my
above job. But I want to know if this could pull down our data then what is the
use of RESTful Data API.
4) I've added Chakpak Movies api in orkut to my profile. I'm not getting what
procedure they are following. Are they using the URL feature which is pulling
down the data from their mini website which they must have developed for this
purpose and hosting that on their own server (www.chakpak.com). OR. They are
using the RESTful Data API which is getting the data from chakpak server and
creating the Chakpak Movies api on the fly on orkut.
I know I'm asking direct development questions but I've tried my best but no
success from past 5 days.
Please guide me where to go, which procedure should I use.
Please reply as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance.
Javed Iqbal.
