In case you haven't heard, the sandbox now has support for version 0.8 of the JavaScript API. While some important components of the 0.8 update are not yet available (e.g. REST API, lifecycle events, etc.), this is still an important milestone. Just place <Require feature="opensocial-0.8"/> in your ModulePrefs and you'll be good to go.
There are likely to be a number of bugs in this initial release so don't be discouraged. You'll still be able to test your existing apps in http://prod.sandbox.orkut.com which is configured identically to production orkut. If you do take the plunge and dive into 0.8 development on the sandbox, please report any issues you find in the issue tracker: http://code.google.com/p/opensocial-resources/wiki/IssuesTab?tm=3 Of course, you can always reply to this thread if you have any questions relating to the sandbox.
