On Thursday December 6th 2007, the Dutch OpenSolaris User
Group will hold its fourth meeting at SUN Microsystems Ned-
erland (http://www.sun.nl). Solaris developers, users,
enthusiasts, experts and novices are all welcome.
Topics for this meeting: KornShell 93 and virtualisation
with OpenSolaris xVM
We will start at 19:30, agenda as follows:
* Bart Muijzer, NLOSUG host, will give an update on the
group, share some ideas of where it's going, and lead a
group discussion.
* Henk Langeveld, UNIX/Networking specialist, will give a
talk on the Korn Shell. The Korn shell is a direct
descendant from the original unix Bourne shell. The
'93 version has been opensourced since 2002, and offers
many features, such as associative arrays, floating
point arithmetic, and fast builtin functions.
Besides ksh techtalk, the presentation will also
address some of the issues around getting ksh initiated
and accepted as an OpenSolaris project
(http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/ksh93-integra-
tion).
* Frank van der Linden, Solaris Kernel Engineer, will
present on xVM: the hypervisor based on Xen that was
integrated in OpenSolaris just recently. Frank will
start with a general description of the Xen hypervisor,
address OpenSolaris specifics and explain how things
look "under the hood". Refer to http://www.openso-
laris.org/os/community/xen/ for more information.
Of course there will be plenty of time for socializing and
networking. We plan to end around 22:00 with food and
drinks at the bar.
