This month we celebrate the first anniversary of OpenSolaris!
We are sponsoring an Installfest as well as a presentation this month, so if you haven't installed OpenSolaris yet, or if you would like to update to the latest build, bring your laptop, and we'll help you get it installed. To save time, please try to backup your data before the Installfest. A tool that several FROSUG members have used successfully to back up their own systems is G4U. Take a look at http://www.feyrer.de/g4u for information on G4U, and see if it would work for your system. Last month, our presentation included guidelines for using this utility. Go to http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/os_user_groups/frosug/install/ and view Dave Hagerty's presentation. In keeping with the install theme, Sanjay Nadkarni, our presenter this month, will be talking about the the future of install, upgrade, and the patch and packaging tools. Sanjay Nadkarni has been working on Unix operating system internals for over 18 years. For the past 8 years he has been a key developer of the Solaris Volume Manager. He holds degrees in Computer Science and Computer Engineering from Syracuse University. Here are the meeting details: Presenter: Sanjay Nadkarni Topic: The Future of Install on OpenSolaris Where: Conference Center, Bldg #1 - Sun Broomfield Campus 500 Eldorado Blvd. Broomfield, CO 80021 When: Tuesday, June 27th, 2006 Time: 5:30 (installfest begins) 6:00 (Pizza) 6:30 (Presentation) Please RSVP.
