We really need something like this since zones hit the scene (with /opt being part of root).
(Actually, I think the zones project should have taken on the huge job of making /opt a "magic mount point" like /usr is but that didn't happen and isn't likely to happen.) However, this diverges from the discussion at hand. - jek3
