I'm submitting the following self-review case on my own behalf. I believe it is merely an obvious extension of already delivered architecture, and therefore qualifies for self review.

Name of Document Author/Supplier: Author: Garrett D'Amore 1.3 Date of This Document: 28 April, 2009 4. Technical Description Title: Delivery of audiots for x86 Requested Binding: Patch Problem: Some southbridges (most commonly used with AMD processors) use an ALi M5451 south bridge and AC'97 audio controller. There is no support for these in Solaris today. Solution: We already have a driver for this part -- audiots commonly used on SPARC systems. As part of Boomer (2008/318) I've already made changes to the driver to ensure it will work properly on x86 processors -- and this has been verified by testing this driver on such x86/amd platforms by 4Front. So, we will simply deliver the audiots driver on x86 platforms. While it would be "cleaner" for audiots to be in its own package, the SPARC platform already delivers this in SUNWaudd. Rather than have different packages for SPARC vs. x86, we will simply add this driver to the x86 SUNWaudd package. While this case is seeking patch binding, we have no plans to deliver the recompiled binary for Solaris 10 or earlier. We don't believe there is any architectural reason such a backport should be architecturally significant though -- the audiots driver using the legacy SADA interfaces should support x86 just as well, with only minor, if any, changes to it. 6.
