That is called an incompatible change for Solaris. For the OpenSolaris binary distribution it might not be too late as we could claim we haven't defined the range at this time. What if a customer already has an account with a uid/gid >= 100 and we add "reserved" account ? Answer "BOOM! bad things happen". -- Darren J Moffat
