/usr/sfw is indeed dead. PSARC 2005/185 "Enabling Serendipitous Discovery" has the obituary. New software is supposed to go where it naturally goes -- in short, that's /usr/bin for programs that an ordinary user would invoke from a command line, /usr/sbin for administrative programs, and /usr/lib for things that are not invoked directly from the command line but are instead invoked indirectly through some other program. -- James Carlson, Solaris Networking <james.d.carlson at sun.com> Sun Microsystems / 35 Network Drive 71.232W Vox +1 781 442 2084 MS UBUR02-212 / Burlington MA 01803-2757 42.496N Fax +1 781 442 1677
