Although the following case adds new switches, it does so in what I believe
to be an obvious and very non-controversial manner. If anyone feels this
really warrants a fast track, please feel free to promote it; its unlikely
that I"ll be filing an RTI on this before Wednesday.

4. Technical Description
audiotest new option
--------------------

When using audiotest, it is sometimes desirable to test just a specific
channel. Also, the current music sample used could be replaced with spoken
text identifying a channel, such "side left", or "front center". This would
make using this test to properly configure audio speakers a lot eaiser.

We therefore propose to add the following switches to audiotest:

        -c <channel>

Test the numbered channed, which must have a value from
1 to 8. Channels follow the Microsoft standard for
multichannel WAV ordering, although some channels will not
                be present.

        -w
Use WAV files for each channel. The wav files are
                read from "/usr/share/audiotest/locale/<file>.wav
                Valid filenames are

                        FL.wav Front Left
                        FR.wav Front Right
                        FC.wav Front Center
                        LF.wav Low Frequency
                        BL.wav Back Left
                        BR.wav Back Right
                        SL.wav Side Left
                        SR.wav Side Right

The same names as used for the descriptive file names will be used in
the human readable output, and except for the Low Frequency channe,
be heard in the appropriate spoken language for the locale. (The
LF channel will be identified audibily using a low frequency tone.)
