I am sponsoring this fast-track for Renee Sommerfeld. These are just updates to previous cases:
PSARC 2008/532 NWAM Phase 1 PSARC 2009/577 Network Auto-Magic (NWAM) Phase 1 Updates where the release bindings are all Minor, the interface taxonomies are varied but unchanged by this case. Since sac_nextcase seemed to fall down and fail to send mail, I am sending this just to be safe (sorry for any duplicates in case it really did succeed in an obtuse way). As for the timer, because of a project deadline, we are setting it to be for COB on Monday, February 15. -- John Template Version: @(#)onepager.txt 1.35 07/11/07 SMI Copyright 2007 Sun Microsystems 1. Introduction 1.1. Project/Component Working Name: Network Auto-Magic (NWAM) Phase 1 Updates part 2 1.2. Name of Document Author/Supplier: Renee Danson Sommerfeld 1.3. Date of This Document: 05-Feb-2010 4. Technical Description: See text below. 6. Resources and Schedule: 6.4. Product Approval Committee requested information: 6.4.1. Consolidation or Component Name: ON 6.5. ARC review type: FastTrack 6.6. ARC Exposure: open When the NWAM Phase 1 schedule was pushed back, we were able to complete several RFEs, a few of which involved interface changes. These are: 1. Finer-grained Security Profiles Previously the console user was assigned the Network Autoconf profile, which gave authorizations to perform any NWAM configuration: creation/ modification of NCPs, Locations, ENMs, Known WLANs, and activation of any of these. The Network Autoconf profile is now split into the Network Autoconf User and Network Autoconf Admin profiles. The User profile is assigned to the console user, and allows the user to activate profiles, and create/modify Known WLAN entries. The Admin profile includes all authorizations given to the User profile, plus the ability to create and modify NWAM profiles. For more details, refer to section 9 of the Phase 1 Specification, in particular section 9.1. http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/download/Project+nwam/Phase1Spec/priv.html 2. Multiple NCPs supported Previously, at most two NCPs were allowed: the system-generated Automatic NCP, and one user-configurable, called the User NCP. Now the user may create any number of NCPs. Switching between NCPs remains the same: it must be done manually, via the GUI or the nwamadm command. The nwamd(1M) man page has been updated; refer to the "Profiles" section. http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/download/Project+nwam/DraftManPages/nwamd.1m.html 3. Add '-a' option to the list and walkprop subcommands in nwamcfg By default, these subcommands only include properties required for the current configuration; for example, if an interface NCU's ipv4-addrsrc property is set to "dhcp", the ipv4-addr property would not be displayed. Passing the '-a' option will cause all properties to be listed. The nwamcfg(1M) man page has been update; refer descriptions of the list and walkprop subcommands in the "SUBCOMMANDS" section. http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/download/Project+nwam/DraftManPages/nwamcfg.1m.html
