Garrett, We discussed 'uname -S' and 'hostname' during the design phase. The consensus was those commands are not persistent across reboots today and this project does not change that behavior.
system/identity:domain might be better named but that is really out of scope for the project. That to me seems like a case for the Networking team to come up with a new SMF service. Thanks, John On 06/18/10 03:06 PM, Garrett D'Amore wrote:
Presumably uname -S and "hostname" will be modified to to update the SMF property as well as read it (likewise for "domainname"?) Also, what about sys-unconfig(1M)? (Or has that already been obsoleted elsewhere?) I wonder if system/identity:domain would better be named to reflect how this is used, which is really only with NIS, right? Perhaps this property ought to belong to the NIS service instead of as a system wide property. (The nodename property seems more general purpose, however.) - Garrett
