I'd just like to note that the CDDL allows us to use OpenSolaris code in the FreeBSD kernel. The GPL would prevent that.
If one presumes these rumours are about the GPLv3 (I havn't heard them), note that the GPLv3 allows itself to be easily extended with additional permissions while remaining compatible with itself (something impossible yo do with GPLv2). E.g. the LGPL can be framed as additional permissions on top of the GPLv3.
Essentially, as with LGPL and GPLv3, the CDDL (in its general effects) could be recast in terms of the GPLv3 + additional permissions - if Sun so desired.
GPLv3 is still not here yet though.. regards -- Paul Jakma [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] Key ID: 64A2FF6A Fortune: You're not drunk if you can lie on the floor without holding on. - Dean Martin _______________________________________________ opensolaris-code mailing list opensolaris-code@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/opensolaris-code
