If one presumes these rumours are about the GPLv3 (I havn't heard
them), note that the GPLv3 allows itself to be easily extended with
additional permissions while remaining compatible with itself
(something impossible yo do with GPLv2). E.g. the LGPL can be framed
as additional permissions on top of the GPLv3.
Essentially, as with LGPL and GPLv3, the CDDL (in its general
effects) could be recast in terms of the GPLv3 + additional
permissions - if Sun so desired.
GPLv3 is still not here yet though..
