Where's the ARC case that covers GSD?  The only one I can find is
PSARC 2001/142, which is marked "closed withdrawn" -- without comment.
I think that if we're to have a generic implementation of some kind
that's usable for more than one driver, a key part of that process
would be ARC review.

(It seems unfortunate that the 1-pager for that case says that this
GSD is copied from the su_driver source, but that it doesn't _replace_
that driver.  My plan was to rewrite all of zs/se/su/asy using a new
framework.)
