We've been having serious stability issues with the OpenGrok webapp
serving the OpenSolaris Source Browser (http://src.opensolaris.org). We
started observing the failures about 2 months ago when we rolled out
support for indexing and searching the Mercurial project repositories on
opensolaris.org. These failures have escalated to the point that we are
seeing at least 3/4 failures per day that require the webapp server
(Tomcat, not the physical server) to be restarted.
We have and will continue to investigate the cause of the issue, but for
now, the failures are causing us more overhead than we can handle. We
have been investigating the situation, but unfortunately we don't
currently have the resources to make this our top priority and we can't
allow the server failures to continue at the current rate. Therefore,
we will be backing out the support for indexing/searching Mercurial
repositories until such time when it is deemed stable.
Anyone who would like the support re-instated is encouraged to
participate in the OpenGrok project as we will not be in a position to
actively work on these problems for at least the next few months.
