Please send us your testcase. Your description isn't sufficient to create
one of our own.
open(2) and fopen(3C) are way different interfaces. fopen(3C) will call
open(2) underneath and there's no technical reason why doing the low-level
open(2)/fdopen(3C) sequence could be slower than fopen(3C). Hence, please
give us the testcase.
